Our work covers technology design and setup, from a new home brief to an upgrade of existing equipment. Residents’ preferred controls, everyday routines and relevant professional recommendations shape the design.
A single platform for everyday home functions
The environmental control system brings appropriate functions together: doors, lighting, heating and cooling, blinds, intercom, emergency communication and selected power or appliance functions. Residents and support staff can use the interfaces appropriate to their roles and the agreed design.
- Central mobile or tablet application.
- Accessible wall-mounted controls and wireless remotes.
- Voice control where appropriate for the participant.

- Manual override where required, with essential functions available locally.
From automated doors to emergency communication
Our scope includes automated door controls, motorised blinds, accessible lighting, HVAC interfaces, smart video intercoms and participant-to-support communication. We also design the structured cabling, managed network, Wi-Fi and backup-power interfaces those systems rely on. Adjustable benches and sinks can be included at the interface level where specified by the architectural or interior design team and technically appropriate.
Respect private bedrooms and individual preferences
One resident should not unintentionally operate another resident’s private bedroom environment. We document participant control zones, permissions and support interfaces so the shared platform can respect those boundaries. Where a design includes sensors or recording, agree purpose, privacy and access with the resident and responsible support team before implementation.
SIL, SDA and assistive technology are different parts of planning
SIL is support with daily living; specialist disability accommodation (SDA) concerns eligible housing. A person can receive SIL support in different housing settings. Assistive technology funding depends on the participant’s needs and applicable NDIS requirements. A quote does not guarantee funding. Confirm any required advice, approvals and provider requirements with the participant’s NDIS contact or plan manager before ordering.

Do you provide full assistive technology design and setup for SIL homes?
Yes. Rhodium Security provides integrated AT design and setup, including environmental controls, accessible entry, communication and the supporting network. Equipment, installation, coordination and handover inclusions are agreed for each project.
Can each resident have their own controls?
Yes. The design provides configurable participant permissions and control zones. Bedroom functions can be separated so one resident cannot unintentionally control another resident’s private environment.
Do essential functions rely on a consumer cloud service?
Our design philosophy avoids that dependence. Essential accessibility functions are designed to retain local operation and appropriate manual or emergency control. The proposed equipment and fallback behaviour are documented and checked for the project.
