There is no single best brand for every property. Rhodium Security’s catalogue includes individual cameras and kits from Dahua, Hikvision and HiLook, with different lenses, lighting features and recording options. A useful comparison puts equivalent equipment beside the same property plan.
Start with a comparable shortlist
Write one brief and use it for all three brands: camera positions, distances, day and night conditions, required recording period and any existing equipment. Compare a complete configuration with another complete configuration. A basic camera-only price should not be compared with a kit that includes several cameras and a recorder.
Choose the exact model and lens at each position. A mixed set of cameras within one system can be more useful than buying the same housing everywhere. Keep a place in your comparison for power requirements, recording compatibility and any separate storage cost.
Dahua: compare lighting and deterrence features
Dahua’s range includes WizSense and TiOC cameras, but those names are starting points for research rather than a complete specification. Dahua describes TiOC as combining colour monitoring, active deterrence and AI functions. Check the precise generation and model before assuming which lighting or audio controls are included.
For a driveway, ask whether you want an overview, a person-focused alert, or a visible and audible response. For a side passage beside living areas, discuss whether visible lighting and sound are desirable. Build those preferences into the shortlist instead of paying for a response you intend to switch off.

Hikvision: separate imaging from detection
Hikvision’s ColorVu and Smart Hybrid Light material addresses low-light imaging and illumination, while its AcuSense material describes classified detection. These solve different parts of the job. A colour image, a filtered notification and an audible warning are separate requirements to check on your selected model.
Ask how the proposed camera records when white light is disabled, what triggers a change in lighting mode, and which event types the recorder can search. Check the full model suffix, too: similar product names can describe different microphones, speakers or lighting arrangements.

HiLook: judge the chosen model on its own features
Do not rule out HiLook solely because you are considering a straightforward home system, or assume every HiLook model has the same capabilities. Hikvision’s Australian HiLook family material includes human and vehicle detection in its All-in-One range. The Rhodium Security catalogue also includes cameras and packages with different resolutions and lens choices.
Use the same viewing and recording checklist you would apply to the other brands. Check whether the particular camera has the detection, night imaging and audio functions you need, then compare its complete system cost. Avoid paying for extra features without first deciding how you will use them.

Make recorder compatibility a deciding factor
If you already have CCTV, bring the recorder model number before choosing replacement cameras. Ask for confirmation of video recording, supported resolution, audio, event search and any camera configuration controls. A picture appearing on screen is only one part of the intended system.
For a new system, compare the proposed recorder, storage and setup as carefully as the cameras. Ask how you will replay an event, export a clip and adjust notifications. Keep any installation and ongoing service charges separate from the equipment comparison.
