Identify what needs to improve
Start with the problem: a gap in coverage, unclear night footage, too little recording history or equipment that is difficult to use. Bringing that requirement and the existing model numbers helps focus an upgrade on the components that matter.
Check the whole system before adding cameras
Extra cameras may require recorder capacity, more power, additional storage and a compatible connection. Confirm recording performance and any model-specific functions as well as the number of available channels.
Keep a maintenance record
Record equipment models and agreed settings, and keep a schedule for checking camera views, recording playback and alarm status. Discuss firmware and account changes with whoever manages the system. Ask for maintenance responsibilities and any follow-up costs to be included in the proposed scope.
